It goes without saying that New Year river cruises sail during New Year, however, it is the length of the cruise that varies. Dates for departure vary from 26 December to just before New Year's Eve, so it's up to you how long you're away. Our most popular sailings are between seven- and nine-nights, offering a great length of time to enjoy the build-up and celebration of New Year with your family and friends.
This all depends on where you want to countdown the New Year! There are many cities where you can celebrate with plenty of others, accompanied by firework displays, street parties and rejoicing late into the night. Or, if you prefer a quieter event, then there are also plenty of sailings which head to small towns and quaint villages for you to spend time with loved ones.
Explore Europe during the New Year and head to Paris on the Seine or Amsterdam and the Dutch Waterways - each offering the ultimate countdown to next year. Alternatively, explore the waterways of Asia for an exotic sailing during prime river cruise time. Spend your New Year visiting the colourful floating markets and the sprawling ruins of the Angkor Wat. Ho Chi Minh City offers rooftop bars to ring in the New Year, or you could visit the open-air venue in Siem Reap where locals and visitors celebrate together.
Christmas Market River Cruises
It's best to book as soon as possible for a river cruise during the New Year, as these sailings are very popular and have limited dates. 2025/26 New Year river cruises are selling out fast, with limited availability due to the dates and popularity, while 2026/27 New Year river cruises have more choice, but will still sell out fast as the festive season approaches.
